Logitech C930E Business Webcam

What Is The LOGITECH C930E BUSINESS WEBCAM?

There’s a reason so many trust Logitech webcams, and the C930E is just another notch on the belt. It has everything you enjoyed about the C920: Business-grade 1080p recording at up to 30 frames-per-second (fps), versatility, excellent microphone, and fantastic autofocus.

So, what’s different this time? Why is it billed as one of the best business webcams? Let’s check.

DESIGN

In terms of appearance, it’s one chunky piece with foldable design. Unlike the C920 it isn’t all black but a great combo of black and silver – suits formal occasions perfectly. It ones up the C920 models by providing a Carl Zeiss lens that has a wider 90-degree pan.

Built-in dual stereo mics sit on either side. The top edge is clean, while the bottom connects to the mount with a solid tripod hinge. Once it’s set, it stays in place. Speaking of the mount, it offers a lot of freedom – you can place the camera on an LCD screen, notebook, or tabletop. The best part – it’s possible to tilt the webcam down at you, all thanks to the ingenious mount.

I found the C930E’s privacy shutter a thoughtful addition. With the shutter closed, you never have to worry about Skype meetings with your video on before you’re ready. And when the cam is not in use, you can rest assured you’re not unintentionally recording video. Just a heads-up: the privacy cover is loose and not permanently attached, so you have to be careful not to lose it.

LOGITECH C930E 1080P SOFTWARE

Unlike many consumer-oriented models the Logitech offers, the C930E uses unique video codecs and drivers. Meaning you can’t use the fun filters and chat avatars or the motion detector.

You can download the main software component, an on-screen remote to tilt, and zoom, either separately or as part of a plug-in for Skype for Business. This leaves the C930E business webcam without its free-standing app for image and video capturing. (Logitech’s app doesn’t use the full 1080p resolution).

When it comes to the supporting frame rates, everything depending on the resolution setting of the cam: you can record 4K video at 30 FPS, 1080p at 30 or 60 FPS, and 720p at 30, 60, or 90 FPS.

SET UP

Setting up the C930E is as simple as it can be since it doesn’t require a driver. You take a PC or Mac, plug it in, and tell app like Photobooth to find it and use it. Your system requirements are Windows 7 or higher; macOS X 10.7 or higher; Chrome OS Version 29.0.1547.70 and higher. Also, you’d require a 2.0 compatible USB port.

LOGITECH C930E 1080P CAMERA QUALITY

As soon as you fire up the C930E, you will notice it delivers flattering visuals. I’d say the visuals, be it live or recorded, look better than many DSLRs. The camera performs not only in well-lit environments but in low light, too. You remain visible even if the picture or video is taken in a dark room with only the light of a laptop display! One of the reasons for that is that RightLight™ 2 Technology allows for autofocus with light detection functionality.

C930E also features the H.264 codec for video compression and UVC 1.5 encoding standard to reduce its dependence on PC and network resources. Its 90-degree angle means you can fit more people into the frame. Speaking of controls, you get Pan, Tilt, and Zoom options within the 90-degree field of view.

Logitech claims the C930E offers 4x digital zoom in 1080p mode. In short, capturing large meeting rooms for video conferences is a breeze. Sound Quality: Clear And Crisp

Now comes another good part – with C930E’s built-in microphones, you’ll always come over loud and clear during a Skype call. Plus, it does a good job filtering out ambient noise.

The audio quality may tend to saturate if the voice is raised. Just remember to speak in your normal tone and the calls will be fine. What are the Business-grade certifications?

The Logitech C930E is a “certified” webcam optimized for Skype for Business and Cisco Jabber™. The camera also provides ‘enhanced integrations’ with other business-class communication software solutions such as Zoom, BlueJeans, Lifesize, Broadsoft, and Vidyo.

Who is the Logitech C930E 1080P Business Webcam For?

  • All workplaces and professionals
  • Vloggers and Work-from-home professional who are not bothered by the wider field of view
  • Gamers (they can just cut off the unwanted edges)
  • Anybody who can benefit from HD video and a wide field of view

DOWNSIDES

The most significant negative I can say about the C930E business webcam is that it doesn’t come with photo or video-capture software. Then there’s a not-so-stable white balance when “auto image adjustment” is on. This means the colours aren’t always accurate; the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is far more precise when it comes to colour reproduction.

Reasons to buy:

  • Fantastic surround-sound microphones
  • On-board video processing
  • Great wide angles

Reasons to avoid:

  • Lacks optical zoom
  • Higher price point

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Logitech C930E is the most advanced HD webcam aimed at business users rather than home use. Unlike traditional webcams, which rely on the PC for all the heavy lifting, the C930E does the video encoding itself, which in turn result in sharper, cleaner videos.

Of course, the C930E costs a lot, but it does a lot too. Speaking of the significant benefits, firstly, the flicker reduction and the auto-focus are a little better. Secondly, C930E is a high dynamic edition.

If you have the right budget and like to have an advanced webcam for group meetings, then the C930E is the webcam for you.
